Rock River Arms, Inc. is a firearm manufacturer located in Colona, Illinois. The company is owned and run by brothers Chuck and Mark Larson.

History

The founding brothers first worked at Springfield Armory, Inc. between 1981 and 1991, where Mark was the head armorer. Later on, they partnered with Les Baer to build custom 1911 pistols under the brand Les Baer Custom, a partnership that lasted until 1993.

Having gathered quite a bit of experience in the industry, the Larsons started their own business, Tolerance Plus, manufacturing custom 1911 pistols.

The company’s name was changed to Rock River Arms soon after.

Rock River Arms Products

In 1997, the company began producing AR-15 style rifles, together with a line of M1911 pattern pistols. However, the latter was eventually discontinued, and now Rock River Arms focuses exclusively on building AR-15 pattern rifles.

In 2003, the company’s rifles outperformed 10 other manufacturers in rifle abuse tests. Following this, Rock River Arms signed a contract with the Drug Enforcement Administration for a minimum of 5,000 AR-15 rifles.

Other federal agencies, such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Marshals, have also acquired Rock River Arms weapons under piggyback contracts.

The company has earned a reputation for making excellent guns and components. And not only are Rock River guns excellent, but they’re also very reasonably priced.
