Olympic Arms, Inc. is a manufacturer of AR-15/M16 type rifles, pistols, and carbines. The company also manufactures and sells Colt 1911 series 70 style pistols, with their distinctive Scorpion-marked grips, under the name Safari Arms, as well as the Whitney 22 caliber pistol. The company was founded by Robert Schuetz in 1956 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, initially under the name of Schuetzen Gun Works. Before starting his own company, Robert Schuetz worked in partnership with the famous gunsmith P.O. Ackley.

In 1975, the company relocated from Colorado to Olympia, Washington, where the headquarters remain to this day.

In 1982, Schuetzen Gun Works started manufacturing AR-15/M16 rifles under the name of Olympic Arms, while continuing to produce custom bolt-action rifles under the old brand name. The innovations that followed are what made this company famous.

In 1993, the company produced the OA-93, an AR-15 pistol, the first of its kind.

The pistol later appeared in the movie A Clear and Present Dangers, in the hands of William Dafoe, followed by other cinematic appearances, such as in the 2008 movie Wanted, featuring Angelina Jolie. A 90-round magazine iteration of the gun was featured in the 1995 film Batman Forever.

Olympic Arms guns have been on the market for more than 40 years. The company was the first to introduce certain features that are now commonly found on AR-15 rifles, and it produced many calibers others than the standard AR-15 caliber of 5.56x45mm.

Olympic was also among the first companies to manufacture AR-15 pistols, free-floating aluminum handguards, and pistol caliber conversions. The AR-15 pistols were offered in several cartridge options, including 9x19mm and .45 ACP, 7.62x39mm, 10mm Auto, and the Winchester Super Short Magnum.
