Century Arms Guns for Sale in Detroit, Michigan
Founded in 1961 in St. Albans, Vermont, Century International Arms is a manufacturer and importer of firearms. The company was founded by William Sucher, a typewriter repairman, after he took a Lee–Enfield rifle in trade for a typewriter repaired for a customer.
Since the company’s establishment, the headquarters have changed to Boca Raton, Florida, and Delray Beach, Florida.
In the beginning, Century focused on importing military surplus handguns and rifles from other countries, and by the 1970s, the company had already become the single largest firearm importer in the United States and Canada.
When the sources of importable surplus guns diminished, Century Arms started manufacturing their own, including their own versions of the AK-47, G3, L1A1, and sporterized Mausers. All of Century Arms’ guns are 100% made in the USA.
Century Arms AK 47
Some of the company’s guns are made to replicate the famous AK design. The Red Army Standard RAS47 is their most popular AK-47. The RAS47 is semi-automatic and gas operated. It’s chambered for the 7.62×39 mm cartridge, and it employs a long-stroke gas piston system. The receiver is stamped from 1.59 mm 4140 sheet steel and treated with a black nitride finish, and its cover fits tightly on top of the receiver, minimizing rattling noises. The bolt carrier, the gas block, and the front trunnion look more like cast components than machines.
Besides the guns mentioned above, Century makes a variety of other models, for example, the SKS rifle and the Zastava M57, the WASR series rifles, two versions of the C39 Centurion, and the TP9 series of eight different versions.
In addition to manufacturing these firearms and importing bulk surplus ammunition, Century is the US importer and distributor for Red Army Standard Ammunition. Century Arms guns are great guns with a half a century tradition behind them.
