Brand Spotlight: The KelTec KSG Shotgun

The KelTec KSG tactical shotgun is no ordinary pump-action shotgun: This ambidextrous dual-tube fastest reloading shotgun has completely changed the game. The KSG is downward ejecting with chambers for 3″ shells and other projectiles. The design delivers plenty of velocities, along with capacity through the unique bullpup design. If you’re looking for the best KelTec KSG for sale, look no further than the original model.

About KelTec

Florida-based KelTec designs some of the most innovative firearms available on the market, and they are in high demand. They are one of the top handgun manufacturers in the United States and one of the largest manufacturers worldwide. They stand firmly behind law enforcement, military, and the Second Amendment, which is just one of the many reasons why we love their guns.

Their business began with designing semi-automatic pistols specifically for concealed carry, bringing the P-series of handguns to the market and introducing the world to a handgun that could be light, thin, and still an excellent choice for self-protection. The PF-9 9mm pistol was the lightest and thinnest handgun ever mass-produced when it debuted in 2006. It set the stage for later thin concealed carry pistols.

From there, KelTec moved into producing high-efficiency rifles known as Rifle, Forward-Ejection, Bullpups, or RFBs. Bullpup shotguns put the action and the magazine behind the trigger, shortening the overall length of the weapon. While bullpup shotguns are incredibly efficient and easy to store for home self-defense purposes, they have notoriously been problematic for left-handed shooters. That is until the KSG hit the market with its downward-ejecting bullpup design.

The KelTec KSG

The KelTec 12-gauge KSG hit the market in 2011, and it revolutionized the pump-action shotgun design completely. Not only are you no longer vulnerable from a long barrel when coming around a corner with a shotgun in your home, but this shotgun holds either 13 or 15 rounds in the dual chambers, depending on the size of the shells you decide to use. That is plenty of ammunition to protect your family and your home from any intruder.

The KSG is also extremely lightweight, despite all the ammunition it holds, weighing in at only 8.5 pounds while loaded and 6.9 pounds unloaded. The barrel length is 18.5″ and the total length is 26.1″. The height of the gun is 7″ and the trigger pull is a light and crisp 5 pounds of pressure. Shooting the KSG is a dream.

Because the KSG loads and ejects from the bottom, it works perfectly for both left- and right-handed shooters. It has a manual switch to flip to move between tube choices. It features a Picatinny-style rail for all your favorite accessories.

Best of all, the KSG is legal in all 50 states, so you don’t have to worry about unnecessary restrictions. It’s also an affordable tactical pump-action shotgun, and won’t completely break the bank. It’s a worthwhile investment for home defense purposes, and target shooting down at the local range.

KSG Series

For those interested in the other models in the KSG series, KelTec has three models that might also interest pump-action shotgun enthusiasts.

KSG25

This beauty features a might higher magazine capacity, with a longer overall length and barrel, but still maintains the same crisp 5-pound trigger pull. Here are the specifications for the KSG25:

  • Weight Unloaded: 9.25lbs
  • Trigger Pull: 5lbs
  • Overall Length: 38″
  • Barrel Length: 30.5″
  • Capacity: 10+10+1 or 12+12+1

KSG Tactical

The KSG Tactical model features an incredibly short barrel. While the capacity is lower, the tactical model comes with a 420-lumen KelTec light and a threaded muzzle for breacher comps or choke adapters. Here are the specifications for the KSG Tactical:

  • Weight Unloaded: 6.2
  • Trigger Pull: 5lbs
  • Overall Length: 21.5″
  • Barrel Length: 13.7″
  • Capacity: 4+4+1 or 5+5+1

KSG Tactical

KSG Compact

The KSG Compact name is a bit of a misnomer because it is larger than the KSG Tactical. However, it’s still small for a pump-action shotgun, especially in the barrel. Here are the specifications for the KSG Compact:

  • Weight Unloaded: 6.8lbs
  • Trigger Pull: 5lbs
  • Overall Length: 26.1″
  • Barrel Length: 18.5″
  • Capacity: 4+4+1 or 5+5+1
